For this lab the following Math standards were covered: 

-Understanding cross-sectional shapes from three-dimensional figures (cones, cylinders, prisms, etc.)

-Successfully able to determine three-dimensional shapes from two-dimensional cross sections. 

 

Students worked with a partner to complete three different stations. At the first station students used play-doh and floss to take cross sections of three-dimensional shapes. At the second station, students had to determine what three-dimensional shape they could create from the image on the paper. At the final station, students used the Illuminations web program and Khan Academy to explore and examine cross sections digitally.
