date. October 2016

For this lab the following ELA and Science standards were covered:
-Understanding and accurately completing an expository writing assignment using sensory language
-Understand and explore volcanos and earthquakes (their causes, location, and effect on surroundings)
-Know basic terminology that relates to volcanos and earthquakes (seismic waves, fault line, tectonic plates, magma, etc.)
Students were paired up for this two-day lab. During day one students completed four stations to learn more about volcanos and earthquakes. The four stations included an earthquake simulation, Nearpod presentation, DiscoveryEd/BrainPOP videos and activities, and an image exploration. Students recorded their findings and the information they gathered in a Google Document. During day two students wrote an expository essay including sensory language that used the information gathered during day one.
